The Level 3 Security Operations programme is aimed at operational personnel who have an understanding of security and want to extend their knowledge. Additionally, the scope of learning makes it appropriate for both existing and aspiring security supervisors.

What does the workbook cover?
The workbook covers the following areas:
Health & Safety
Includes Health & Safety at Work regulations; how to apply the regulations; how they are enforced and how to implement COSHH procedures.
Students will learn how to conduct a security risk analysis, how to assess requirements for protecting buildings; the properties of explosive devices and how to mitigate their effect; what makes an effective CCTV system; how to conduct and manage searches.
Information and Personnel
This module deals with the need to protect information; IT security, drugs and substance abuse; contingency planning and crisis management; customer service.
Private Security and the Law
Considers the legal requirements for private security operations, arrest procedures and the rights of arrested persons; collecting and producing witness statements; equal opportunities and anti-discrimination law; working with external agencies and their role in supporting security operations.

Once all sections of the book are completed, delegates can sit an exam to achieve the City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Security Operations qualification.
This is an on-line multiple choice exam consisting of four units and lasts approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. A minimum pass mark of 75% of each unit is required for achievement of the qualification.

You will need to bring the completed workbook with you on the day to be assessed. Please note that without the workbook you will be unable to sit the exam.
