Board MembersSkills for Security is the sector skills body for the private security industry and is a not-for-profit organisation.
We are governed by a non-executive Board whose role is to guide, advise and monitor the work of the executive directors. Our Board members are:
Chief Executive of the BSIA
James Kelly responsibilities include leading the team and providing strategic direction to the Association and its members. He maintains a high level of contact with government, civil servants and overseas bodies, and is heavily involved in industry regulatory activities.
Prior to this, James spent nine years as Managing Director of the Direct Marketing Association and previous roles include: Director of Marketing for the Institute of Mechanical Engineers; Head of Marketing Services for the Law Society; International Marketing Manager for The Wine Society and Planning Manager for Royal Mail. He has also undertaken voluntary advice work in law centres and Citizens’ Advice Bureaux.
Chairman of the BSIA
Dirk was elected by the BSIA Council to serve as Chairman of the Association for a two-year term from July 2016. Dirk chairs the BSIA Council and the Operating Board. He is a long-serving member of the BSIA’s Security Guarding Section, and works closely with the Association’s Chief Executive to form strategic objectives for the BSIA.
